Abigail Lee Kerns, 53, of Harper Ferry, West Virginia passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at John Hopkins Hospital.

Abbey was born July 21, 1972 in Danville, Indiana to Ralph Fisher and Kathy (Fisher) Christoph.  Abbey was married to Jesse Kerns on December 31, 1997.  She was a member of St. James the Greater Catholic Church where she was actively participating in weekly classes in preparation for confirmation.

Abbey was quite an accomplished young lady.  She graduated from Lebanon High School, she achieved her BA in social work from Shepard University and her masters in social work from West Virginia University.  She accomplished all of this while battling long standing health issues.

Abbey worked as a social worker for the Epic Head Start Program and family services for Jefferson Berkley and Morgan County of West Virginia. Abbey loved her job, all of her co-workers and clients. They loved her hard work, dedication and tireless fighting for marginalized people in her community.  She was born to be a social worker!

Abbey always strived to help everyone, she worked long days and would come home and fix supper for family.  She was the person what if friends for family needed a place to stay, her home was lovingly opened to them, if she was happiest when she was serving others with everything she possibly could.  Her family and friends were amazed of how she did the things she did for people with her chronic health problems.

Abbey is survived by her husband, Jesse Kerns of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, her mother and step-father, Kathy and Chuck Christoph of Camby, Indiana, her father and stepmother, Ralph and Jenni Fisher of Oregon, her son, Jesse Kerns Jr. and her stepdaughter Leah Kerns, and her brothers Jesse A Fisher, Jacob Fisher and Gordon Fisher.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ralph and Norma Fisher, Bob Williams and Gladys Serra, and her brother-in-law, Martin Joseph Kerns.

A mass will be conducted Saturday, December 20, 2025 at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church at 11:00 A.M.  A Celebration will take place following the service at St. Timothy's Parish Hall.
