Agnes Lucile Sandlin-Peyton, 99 years old of Port Charlotte, FL and Wake Forest, NC, and formerly of the Mountains of Tennessee, Indianapolis, Ocala, Florida, and Richmond, Virginia passed away on Saturday, July 26 at Aspire nursing home in Englewood, Florida.
She was born February 9, 1926 in Indianapolis, IN.
Her parents were Jason Jackson Cross and Ozora Frances Pearson, they preceded her in death.
She was a dedicated churchgoer and one of her real joys was gardening with her husbands. She also enjoyed, boating, traveling in her recreational vehicle, camping with family and family reunions. Agnes loved the outdoors especially birds and the martins she built several houses to attract.
Survivors include her children, Alan Sandlin (Linda) of Marco Island, FL, Donna Scheeler (Kim) of Port Charlotte, FL, Iris Sandlin of Wake Forest, NC, and a sister Edna Martin of Tipton, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Raymond Sandlin and Donald Peyton, a son, Gary Sandlin on January 3, 1976, three brothers, George Cross, Verly Cross and Melvin Cross, and sisters, Esther "Button" Shaffer, and Hazel Chapman.
Pastor Bill Turner will conduct a service on Monday, August 4, 2025 at 1PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com./obituary/agnespeyton. Friends may call Monday August 4, 2025 from Noon until service time at the mortuary. Burial will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, IN.
