Allen Wayne Mitchell, 57, of Westport, IN and formerly of Franklin, IN passed away Monday, March 24, 2025.

He was born January 21, 1968 in Franklin, IN to Charles Monroe Mitchell and Betty Jo (Ramsey) Mitchell.  He married Jennifer K. (Calhoun) Mitchell, she survives.

Allen had been a self-employed construction contractor for many years.

He was a United States Navy Veteran.

Allen enjoyed singing, playing his guitar, fishing, cookouts, camping, hanging with friends, and especially cooking and being a chef.

Survivors include his wife Jennifer K. (Calhoun) Mitchell of Westport, IN, his children Bethany Skaggs (James) of Franklin, IN, Jeffery Burkhead of Greenwood, IN, Joshua Mitchell (Farran Lear) of Franklin, IN and David Mitchell of Franklin, IN, his 14 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and his dog Zeus, who never left his side.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Melinda Banta, brother Gary Taylor, grandsons Gunner Mitchell and Phoenix Mitchell.

Father Tim DeCrane will conduct a service on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at 6PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/allenmitchell.  Military honors will follow the service and conducted by the Franklin American Legion Post 205 Honor Guard.  Friends may call Wednesday, April 2, 2025 from 4PM until service time at the mortuary.
