Obituary

Andrew "Drew" Mardis Wood, 77, of Franklin, IN passed away Thursday, March 13, 2025 at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis, IN with his loving family by his side.

He was born November 23, 1947 in Franklin, IN to Andrew Hershel Wood and Norma June (Mardis) Wood.  He married Kathy (Mattox) Wood on June 6, 2009 in Franklin, IN, she survives.

Drew graduated from Franklin Community High School in 1966.  He worked for AM General for 30 years and retired in 2013.

Drew had a band called Monte Carlo from the age of 16 to age 25 where he was the lead guitarist and lead singer; he greatly loved and enjoyed music.  He had his Pilot's license and he enjoyed flying small aircraft.

He was a member of the Franklin Elks Lodge 1818 for many years and served as exalted ruler for two terms.  He was an avid golfer until the age of 45.  He enjoyed showing horses and going with family to Valley Rider Saddle Club, and loved boating at Lake Monroe.  His most favorite thing was to be with family.  Drew was a wonderful loving husband, father and a great man, he will be sadly missed.

Survivors include his wife Kathy (Mattox) Wood of Franklin, IN, his son Andy Wood (Leslie) of Greenwood, IN, his daughter Kelly Wood – Edwards of Bargersville, IN, a stepdaughter Michelle Jackson of Greenwood, IN, his mother Norma June (Mardis) Wood of Franklin, IN, grandchildren Jacob Wood, Catie Wood, Maddie Wood, Emma Edwards and Audrey Edward, step-grandchildren and MacKenzee Dillman of Okinawa, Japan, and a step great-grandson James Dillman of Okinawa, Japan.

He was preceded in death by his father Andrew Hershel Wood.

Reverend Dennis Carnes will conduct a service on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at 6PM at Swartz Family Community and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/andrewwood.  Friends may call Tuesday, March 25, 2025 from 2PM until service time at the mortuary.
