Obituary

Barbara Anne (Davis) Smith, 87, of Franklin, IN passed away Saturday, June 8, 2024.

She was born March 19, 1937 in Henry County, IN to Roscoe Francis Davis and Pervia Leona (Zimmerman) Davis.  She married Donald Paul Smith in December 28, 1957 at Mayes Christian Church in Mayes, IN; he preceded her in death on May 24, 1965.

She was a graduate of Mayes High School in Rush County, IN.

Barbara had been employed by Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin, IN for fifteen years.  She previously had been a receptionist for Dr. Alfred T. Chappel in Franklin, IN and a cashier at Kopetsky's Car Wash in Greenwood on County Line Road.

She was an avid bowler and had played on many bowling leagues at Hi-Way Lanes in Franklin, IN.

Barbara was a member of the Red Hat Society, Franklin American Legion Post 205 Auxiliary, and Delta Delta Sorority.

She loved and enjoyed cooking, especially for others.

Survivors include her children Phillip A. Smith of Franklin, IN, Deidre L. Thompson (Larry) of Franklin, IN and Todd D. Smith (Chris) of Franklin, IN, six grandchildren Christina Blackwell (Eric) of Franklin, IN, Josh Groom (Carly) of Greenwood, IN, Leighanna Smith of Whiteland, IN, Rhys Smith of Franklin, IN, Zach Harlow (Sydney) of Flat Rock, IN and Wyatt Harlow of Franklin, IN, nine great-grandchildren Isabelle, Lyla, Adeline, Cora, Cameron, Declan, Asher, Beau and Wrenley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Philip Davis, sisters Marlene Edington, Carolyn Adams, Marykay Lace, and daughter-in-law Kathy Smith.

Pastor Bill Turner will conduct a service on Friday, June 14, 2024 at 1PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/barbarasmith.  Friends may call Friday, June 14, 2024 from 11AM until service time at the mortuary.  Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, IN.
