Barbara Ann (Himmelhaver) West, 84, of Franklin, IN and formerly of Greenwood, IN passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis, IN.
She was born February 2, 1938 in Indianapolis, IN to Anthony August Himmelhaver and Anna Marie (Janos) Himmelhaver. She married Arthur Joseph "Art" West on August 10, 1963 in Indianapolis, IN, he survives.
She was a 1956 graduate of St. Mary's Academy in Indianapolis, IN. She was a member of Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church, a 46-year member of Valley Riders where she had served as executive secretary, had been a 4-H Leader for the Hoofprints 4-H Club, a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and the Indiana Saddle Horse Association.
Barbara enjoyed gardening, cooking, watching and caring for her grandchildren and other children. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was an avid Indianapolis Colts fan.
Survivors include her husband Arthur J. "Art" West Jr. of Franklin, IN, two daughters Julie M. West (Dale Floyd) of Bargersville, IN and Jennifer L. Kean (Rob) of Franklin, IN, three grandchildren Justin T. West of Franklin, IN, Seth R. Kean (Ashely) of Needham, IN and Tyler A. Kean of Franklin, IN, four great-grandchildren Millie Kean, Ellie Kean, Georgia Kean and June Kean, a sister Judy Cecil of Martinsville, IN, brother-in-law Paul West (Judy) of Indianapolis, IN, sister-in-law Phyllis West of Whiteland, IN, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother-in-law James Robert "Bob" Cecil and nephew Jeff "Bean" Cecil.
Father Todd Goodson will conduct a service on Tuesday- October 25, 2022 at 1PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U .S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com . Friends may call Monday, October 24, 2022 from 4PM until 8PM at the mortuary.
Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, IN.
