Betty Sue (Poynter) Coner, 84, longtime resident of Franklin, died on June 18, 2025. Born on June 15, 1941 in Zionsville,IN, her parents were Joe and Edna Ruth (Reedy) Poynter. She grew up in Somerset, Ky and relocated with her family as a teenager to Fort Myers, Fl. She married Linville D. Coner on June 29, 1958 at Tice Methodist Church in Fort Myers, Fla. He survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Sherri Lynn Coner and one son, Joseph Scott Coner (Cindy) all of Franklin. One grandson, Joshua Klatte Coner and two granddaughters, Emily Sae (Coner) McKnight and husband Cole McKnight and Taylor Lynn Coner and husband Ben Hickey, all of Franklin. One step great granddaughter, Aleigha McKnight of Whiteland. One sister, Bobbie Jo (Poynter) Epperson of Somerset, Ky. and one brother, Charlie Bell Poynter (Karen) of Fort Myers, Fl. She is also survived by several sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Ann (Poynter) Burrell in 1993, twin infant siblings, Judy Kay and Jerry Franklin in 1948 and twin brothers, one named Merle who lived one year. The second twin was stillborn.

Betty loved bright colors, interior design, floral design and artistic projects, especially acrylic painting. She enjoyed spending winters in Florida, watching hummingbirds visit the backyard each spring and traveling with Lin, her husband of nearly 67 years.

A private service will be held on June 23, 2025 at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center in Franklin, IN followed by an Entombment service at The Gardens at Olive Branch Cemetery in Greenwood, IN.
