Brenda Joy Jones, nee Hamilton, of Charleston, SC, passed away from kidney failure on March 12, 2023, during a visit to Cape Coral, FL. Brenda was born on August 10, 1950, in Franklin, IN and raised in the Hopewell community of Johnson County, IN.  She is a graduate of Franklin High School.

The daughter of Lawrence and Virginia (Utterback) Hamilton, Brenda is survived by her husband of over 55 years, Robert Jones.  Also surviving are her two daughters, Tamara "Tammie" Jones of Charleston, SC, and Holli Jones of Silver Spring, MD. Brenda's mother, father and brother, Jerry Hamilton, preceded her in death.

The highlight of Brenda's later life was becoming a grandma to Violet in 2013 and to Reed in 2016.  In addition to raising two daughters, Brenda managed childcare centers in Franklin and West Chester, OH.  Her lifelong vocation was working with children.  In her later years, she worked in the Lakota School system in Ohio as a special education aide. Her primary focus was working with autistic children.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday,  March 19, 2023 from 3PM until 5PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN.

The Reverend Shan Rutherford will conduct a graveside service and Jack Hamilton of Whiteland, IN, her nephew will offer the eulogy at 10:30 AM on Monday, March 20, 2023 at Hopewell Cemetery in Franklin, IN.
