Carl Henry Bleke Jr. of Greenwood, IN at 81, passed away on February 5, 2022. A lifetime Hoosier, Carl was born in Marion, Indiana on November 25, 1940, and lived in Greenwood, IN for the last 41 years.  Carl graduated from Marion High School in 1958, and remained active with his class reunion committee since his graduation.  Carl attended Indiana University following high school and graduated in the class of 1962.  While at IU he served on the Little 500 steering committee, where it was rumored that he was "the only GDI" on the committee.

Following college Carl was commissioned into the United States Army Signal Corps with his initial tour in Bien Hoa, Vietnam, being assigned as the Officer in Charge of the DET2, 232 Signal Company. He completed his military career as the Post Signal OIC at Fort Riley, Kanas.  Carl was extremely proud of his service to his country.  Carl began his post military career selling life insurance for Northwestern Mutual and then worked for a short period at American Fletcher National Bank.  Carl then began working at Blue Cross Blue Shield, where he helped pioneer the "paperless" billing system which has streamline the medical claims process and still being used today.

While at Blue Cross Blue Shield, Carl met the love of his life, Patsy.

Carl retired in 1995, after 27 years at Blue Cross Blue Shield.  Carl and Patsy then spent the next 18 months traveling the United States and volunteering for the Shiner's Transportation Club.  Following his "retirement," Carl reentered the workforce at Alverno supporting the Franciscan Health System for 20 years.  While at Alverno, Carl contributed to the Y2K preparations and he wrote the first medical claim program for Franciscan Health.  Carl was an active member of the Indiana Free Masons where he achieved his 32° Mason, he was a member of the Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine, the American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars.  Carl relished playing bridge and would seek out local clubs while traveling, additionally he enjoyed playing all forms of cards and board games, and watching his beloved IU Hoosier.  Carl was always quick with a joke and had a dedicated "library" shelf in his study for humor books.

Carl is proceeded in death by his parents; Carl Henry Bleke Sr. and Vera Bertha (Trulock) Bleke. He is survived by his wife Patsy, his children David, Michael, and Michelle, Granddaughter Mackenzee and her husband Sam along with his Great Granddaughter Emerie, and his extended families Chris and Kim Wodarz, Sarah and Jim Stevenson.

The Family request in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Murat Shriners Children's Hospital Transportation Fund ( https://www.muratshriners.com/product-page/donation-to-murat-transportation-unit ).  The interment is scheduled for Friday, May 13, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at the Marion National Cemetery in Marion, IN and a celebration of Carl's life is scheduled for Saturday, May 14, 2022 from 1:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. at the Johnson County Shrine Club, 751 West King Street, Franklin, IN.  Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) Franklin, IN is handling the arrangements.
