Obituary

Carl Emerson Dearth, 79, of Bargersville, IN passed away Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Compass Park in Franklin, IN.

He was born December 22, 1945 in Troy, Ohio to Eugene and Wreatha (Shellenbarger) Dearth.  He married Susan (Wilham) Dearth on July 11, 1970 in Indianapolis, IN, she survives.

He was a United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.

Carl had been a foundry worker for International Harvester in Indianapolis, IN for thirty years.

He loved the fair especially the Indiana State Fair, working in the wool & sheep barn and the dog show.  Carl enjoyed fishing in the summer, camping, going to the casino, playing lottery tickets were his favorite past times.  He also enjoyed bargain and thrift shopping.

Survivors include his wife Susan (Wilham) Dearth of Bargersville, IN, daughter Lea Ingoldsby (Bobby) of Martinsville, IN, sons Leo Dearth (Tammy) of Knox, IN and Mike Dearth (Traci) of Franklin, IN, grandson Travis Ingoldsby (Crystal Jefferies) of Martinsville, IN, granddaughters Caytee Ingoldsby (Ethan Wood) of Martinsville,IN, Katelyn Dearth, MacKenzie Dearth, Madyson Dearth and Ashland Dearth all of Franklin, IN, great-grandsons Andrew Dearth and Lucas Wood, and great-granddaughters Abilene Marley and Payten Wood, his brother Ray Dearth of Indianapolis, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Wreatha (Shellenbarger) Dearth, brothers George Dearth, Jerry Dearth and Paul Dearth, and his sister Alyce Alexander.

The Reverend Shan Rutherford will conduct a service on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 11AM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/carldearth.  Friends may call Saturday, March 8, 2025 from 9:30 AM until service time at the mortuary.

Burial with military honors by the United States Army Honor Guard and Franklin American Legion Post 205 Honor Guard will follow the service at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood, IN.
