Carolyn J. (Patton) Oaks, 91, of Greenwood, IN passed away Friday, May 15, 2026 at Greenwood Village South.

She was born December 6, 1934 in Indianapolis, IN to Howard Ray Patton and Bernadine (Bramlett) Patton.

Carolyn was a 1952 graduate of Emmerich Manual High School in Indianapolis, IN.

She had been a food service cook for the Center Grove Community School Corporation.

Carolyn was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Greenwood 1st Ward in Indianapolis, IN.

She enjoyed reading, making quilts, gardening and working in her flowerbeds. Spending time with her family was especially important to her.  She also enjoyed going to euchre parties with her many friends and getting together with her classmates at Christmas.

She married Lloyd Oaks; he preceded her in death on May 24, 2002.

Survivors include her children Pam Payne (Rod) of Springville, UT, Larry Surface of Greenwood, IN, Randy Surface (Peggy) of Martinsville, IN, Linda Plunkett (Brent) of Mooresville, IN, Richard Surface (Dawn) of Bargersville, IN and Laura Harris (Todd) of Greenwood, IN, 21 grandchildren, and 44 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother Ronald Patton.

A service will be conducted on Thursday, May 21, 2026 at 12PM Noon at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Greenwood 1st Ward, 900 East Stop 11 Road, Indianapolis, IN 46227 with visitation from 10AM until service time.

Burial will follow the service at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood.
