On March 2, 2026, Carroll Ferguson Hunt Rader met her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, face to face. Her prayer come true.

Carroll was born in Coshocton, Ohio, to Stella and Dwight Ferguson, who founded One Mission Society's (OMS) Men for Missions ministry. She joined her brother, Marvin, two years her senior. As the daughter of an evangelist, Carroll grew up attending church and felt spiritual conviction from a young age. When she was a small child, she accepted Christ during a revival service led by her father. She was raised in the Christian and Missionary Alliance church and later joined the United Methodist Church.

Carroll graduated from Asbury College (now Asbury University) in 1955 with a bachelor's degree in music ministry. Besides being a pianist, she sang in an Asbury trio that traveled on weekends to gospel services during her college years. The trio's ministry also took them to Japan. After graduating, she married Everett Hunt, and in 1958, they welcomed their daughter, Julia.

Carroll first learned about OMS in college when her parents joined the OMS family. Over time, several experiences clarified her calling to become a missionary. She attended a small local camp meeting, heard Uncle Bud and Aunt Hazel Kilbourne speak at a tent service, and later attended an OMS convention in Winona Lake, Indiana. There, she and Everett stepped forward to dedicate their lives to missionary work. They officially joined OMS in 1958.

Together, Carroll and Everett served in Korea until July 1979, when they moved to the OMS World Headquarters. Ev served as the vice president of field ministries before becoming president from 1982 to 1986, during which Carroll served as OMS' first lady. During their years of service, Carroll and Ev also ministered in Hong Kong and served as guest lecturers in several other countries. In 1988, they began a season of ministry at Asbury, and in May 1991, they returned to OMS as honorary missionaries.

Throughout decades of faithful service, Carroll served as an associate editor for OMS' Outreach magazine, led writing workshops for missionaries, and worked in the Audio-Visual Department. A skilled writer, she produced articles, audio-visual scripts, and publicity materials. She also authored If Two Shall Agree: The Story of Paul A. Rader and Kay F. Rader of the Salvation Army, Beyond South Gate, and Tunnels of Green (her personal memoir), as well as three books for OMS: From the Claws of the Dragon, Of Guts and Grace: Fifty Years with Men for Missions International, and co-authored Absolutely! with Vicki Lake.

Carroll once said that her reason for missionary work was "to fulfill God's demands on my life for the yet untold people of the earth." Carroll retired from OMS in 1998 after more than 40 years of dedicated service.

A CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at Mount Auburn Church Stones Crossing Campus, 3100 West Stones Crossing Rd, Greenwood, IN 46143 at 6PM with visitation from 5PM at the church.
