Obituary

Charles Junior Cody, 91, of Greenwood, IN passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at Homeview Health & Rehabilitation Center in Franklin, IN.

He was born June 6, 1934 in Mt. Carmel, Tennessee to Charlie Denver Cody and Etta Pearl (Carpenter) Cody.  Charles married Barbara J. (Aldridge) Cody on March 19, 1955 in Catoosa County, Georgia, she survives.

Charles had served in the United States Army Corp.

He had been employed by General Motors Truck and Bus Group in Indianapolis, IN for 35 years retiring as a hydraulics technician.

He was a member of Southeast Baptist Tabernacle Church in Indianapolis, IN.  He previously was a member of Villa Baptist Church in Indianapolis where he had served as a deacon and a church bus driver for 22 years.

Charles enjoyed golfing, automotive bodywork repair and storytelling.

Survivors include his wife Barbara J. (Aldridge) Cody of Greenwood, IN, his children Rick Cody (Cathy) of Indianapolis, IN, Jamie Davidson (Keith) of Clayton, IN, Michael Cody (Kristi) of Westfield, IN and Tim Cody (Lisa) of Greenwood, IN, 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Robbie Cody, siblings Juanita Gregg, Shirley Sutherland, Lois Mills, Norma Johnson, Benjamin "Benny" Cody and Bill Cody.

Pastor Keith Davidson will conduct a service on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at 1PM at Southeast Baptist Tabernacle Church, 6835 Shelbyville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46237 with visitation from 11AM until service time.  Burial will follow the service at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood, IN with military honors being conducted by the United States Army Honor Guard.

Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN is handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to Seedline International, 2747 E. U.S. Highway 40, Brazil, IN 47834.
