Obituary

Charles David Forsyth, 53, of Trafalgar, IN and formerly of Franklin, IN passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2024.

He was born on April 20, 1970 in Franklin, IN to Charles "Denny" and Cheryl R. (Thompson) Forsyth.

David was a graduate of Franklin Community High School where he was a part of the wrestling team and played baseball.

After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving in the 2nd Combat Engineers Battalion as a heavy equipment operator. He was deployed during the Gulf War in Operation Desert Storm.

He was most proud of his military service to his country and remained close with many of his "Brothers-In-Arms".  He served as past commander and the American Legion Post #205 in Franklin, IN.

David's career included construction, framing houses, laborer for Santa Rossa Marble and Tile and most recently a forklift operator for Berry Global in Franklin, IN.

He enjoyed many years of playing softball for the American Legion and other teams.  David also enjoyed fly-fishing with his Dad, golfing in local tournaments, watching sports and time spent with family and friends.

Survivors include his loving wife of 13 years, Kim A. (French) Forsyth of Trafalgar, IN, brother Jon Forsyth (Erin), sister Dala Rhoades and chosen sister Kim Craven (Carter), nephews Dylan Forsyth and Ben Forsyth, his step children Ashley DeJulio (Brent), Evan Stewart (Alison), Derek Crocker (Kelly) and Nick Crocker, five grandchildren Skyler Stewart, Alaina Stewart, Braxton Stewart, Mia DeJulio and Leo DeJulio.

He was preceded in death by his parents Charles "Denny" and Cheryl R. (Thompson) Forsyth, maternal and paternal grandparents Gerald and Dorothy (Whitaker) Thompson and Stanley and Shirley (Denton) Forsyth.

The Reverend Shan Rutherford will conduct a service on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at 7PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN with full military honors being conducted the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard and the U.S. Military Vets Motorcycle Club.  Services will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com.  Friends may call Wednesday, April 3, 2024 from 3PM until service time at the mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Project Healing Waters at www.projecthealingwaters.org.

Project Healing Waters is a non-profit organization dedicated to the physical and emotional rehab of injured and disabled Veterans and military personnel through fly-fishing education, activities and outings.
