Obituary

Charles Gilbert Eldon Jordal of Greenwood, IN, formerly of Northern Illinois went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 3, 2026, at Franciscan Hospice House in Indianapolis.

Known as Charlie or Chuck by family and friends, he was born February 27, 1940, to Gilbert and Dorothy (Ahlberg) Jordal in DeKalb, IL. He married Rebecca (Dicus) Jordal on November 3, 1962, in Rochelle, IL, and was married until her death on July 1, 1984. He then married Vicki (Johnson McAhren) Jordal on May 25, 1985; she survives.

Charles was a farmer on the family farm in Lee, IL, until 1979. He then began farming for Del Monte in Rochelle. Later, he worked for Sheahan Case IH in Sycamore until he remarried and moved to Greenwood, IN. He continued working in agriculture as a mechanic for Holden Foundation Seeds in Whiteland until his retirement in 2000.

Agriculture was in his blood. Charles loved selling toy tractors and agricultural-related items. He also loved gardening and tending bird feeders. His favorite place to be was sitting on the back deck of his house, watching the ducks and geese by the pond.

In his early years, he loved drag racing and was a car enthusiast. His favorite was a '57 Chevy. During all his years, he loved his family dearly and enjoyed family gatherings. Charlie had an infectious laugh that shook his whole body. Once he started laughing, it wasn't long before everyone joined in.

Charles was a member of Community Church of Greenwood, and a former member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Lee, IL. Later in life, he went on several mission trips to Alaska and Arizona. He enjoyed music and participated in several Gaither Gatherings in Gatlinburg, where he served as an usher for these events. He loved Jesus and served him well.

Though Charlie is now in heaven, he is survived by his wife Vicki; his children: Pam (Tim) Calhoun of Indianapolis; Tim (Jen) Jordal of Grand Haven, MI; Jon (Lisa) McAhren of Statesville, NC; Beth Jordal of Greenwood; Jennifer (Tom) Gallenbach of Aurora, IL; Susanna McAhren (Bill) Selph of Greenwood; Beth McAhren; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and one special furry companion, Friday.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rebecca, his sisters Vergene Jordal and Rosemary (Ralph) Kingsbury, his son Tim McAhren, his grandson Adam McAhren, and several extended family members and friends.
