Obituary

Charles Otto Park, 84, of Franklin, Indiana, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2025. Born July 7, 1940, in Indianapolis to Otto and Martha (Hood) Park, Charles led a vibrant life filled with deep family roots, service, and creativity.

A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Charles served from 1958 to 1963 with honor and dedication. He went on to work as a respected salesman for 35 years with Olinger Distributing, where he introduced many to the finer points of wine and spirits.

Charles shared 60 years of devoted marriage with his beloved wife, Marcia (Johnson) Park. Together, they built a life marked by love, laughter, and a shared joy for adventure. Charles cherished time outdoors—camping, fishing, and exploring nature. He was an accomplished gourmet cook and oil painter, passions that revealed his creative heart.

He found joy in music, dancing, and wine tastings, often bringing those he loved together for memorable celebrations. Charles was a dedicated member of Victory Christian Church and a steady presence in his community.

He is survived by his wife, Marcia; daughter, Sara (Park) Jackson; granddaughter, Chrissy Jackson; sister, Linda (Park) Zickler; nephews Ryan (Julie) Zickler and Jason (Karen) Zickler; and many great-nieces and nephews who brought him pride and joy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws Frank and Hazel Johnson; brothers-in-law Michael Johnson and Lou Zickler; sister Charlene Park; and his son-in-law, Jeff Jackson.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary, and again on Tuesday, July 1, from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 10:00 AM, conducted by Pastor Josh Cadwell and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/charlespark. Burial with full military honors being conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard and Franklin American Legion Post 205 Honor Guard will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
