Obituary

Charles Anthony Ramer, 76, of Franklin, IN passed away Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis, IN.

He was born August 26, 1948 in Monmouth, IL to Dale Kenneth Ramer and Rosemary (St. Ledger) Ramer.  He married his wife of 52 years, Diane M. (Swift) Ramer on June 16, 1973 in Des Moines, Iowa.

Chuck grew up in Roseville, Illinois.  His heart never left his hometown; he would often regale his children and grandchildren with stories of golden days gone by.

He was a lifelong educator, starting his career as a middle school teacher, and ending it in higher education.  He had a passion for preparing new teachers for the classroom, but most of all, he had a passion for people.  He never met a stranger, and was no respecter of persons.  He was a friend and encourager to all, and continued lifelong relationships with many a relative, neighbor, student, and colleague.  He was easy-going, compassionate, and often had a sparkle of mischief in his eye.

Chuck enjoyed participating in community theatre, and was a founding member of the "Our Town Players" of Franklin, Indiana.  He was a true Chicago Cubs fan, passing his love of baseball down to his grandkids.  His family was his pride and joy.

Survivors include his wife Diane M. (Swift) Ramer of Franklin, IN, his children Sarah L. Godsave (Matthew) of Greenwood, IN, James A. Ramer of Terre Haute, IN and Cathleen A. Hicks (Bradley) of Bowling Green, KY, nine grandchildren Dylan Godsave, Drew Godsave, Ryan Godsave, Ruby Godsave, Piper Ramer, Judson Hicks, Emmett Hicks, Landry Hicks and Callan Hicks, and a brother James K. Ramer of Franklin, IN.

His parents preceded him in death.
