Obituary

Charlotte Mae (Allison) Copeland, 90, of Greenwood, IN passed away peacefully on July 29, 2023 after loved ones surrounded her.

Charlotte grew up in Indianapolis, IN and attended Howe High School and long-time member Southport Presbyterian Church. She loved traveling of any kind especially to the beach, riding horses and listening to her father recite James Whitcomb Riley poetry.  She was a proud farm wife who adored her family and enjoyed capturing precious memories on camera.  She found great pride in her landscaping, crafts, and watching her loved ones play sports. She was known for her sassy personality.

She loved animals and not only took care of many on the farm but adopted a variety of wild animals and volunteered at animal shelters.

Charlotte held a variety of jobs through the years however, those she was most proud included, Owner/Dance Instructor of Dixon Dance Studio, and an Administrative Assistant at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Home in Greenwood, IN and Vandivier Tudor Funeral Home in Franklin, IN.

Her loving husband James "Buster" Copeland preceded Charlotte in death. She also is preceded by husbands Jim Tutwiler and Dale Hawkins, parents Arthur Samuel and Juanita Mae (Keith) Allison and sister Ann (Allison) Glass.  She is survived by her sisters Karen (Bill) Mills of Indianapolis, IN, Ellen (Dave) Distler of Noblesville, IN, brother Steve (Gayle) Allison of Edwardsville, IL, children Dennis (Karen) Hawkins of Needham, IN, Gary (Tina) Hawkins of Greenwood, IN, Mike (Amy) Copeland of Greenwood, IN, Jeff (Therese) Copeland of Columbus, IN and Lisa (Greg) Stidham of Greenwood, IN, 17 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Pastor Seth Amerine will conduct a service on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at 10AM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com.  Friends may call Tuesday, August 1, 2023 from 4PM until 8PM at the mortuary.  Burial will be at Rocklane Cemetery in Greenwood, IN.
