Christine Roy Frye

Christine Roy Frye, age 100, of Somerset, KY, passed from this earthly life to her heavenly home on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at her residence. Christine was born on June 19, 1926 in Russell County, KY, the daughter of Ben Roy and Nancy Chumbley Roy. Christine was married to Kenneth Frye on April 20, 1948 and they shared life for 42 years prior to his passing in 1990.

She was a faithful and dedicated member of New Hope Baptist Church, Nancy, KY for over 70 years. Christine devoted many years to teaching Sunday School for Tiny Tots and Teens. She loved the “Lord”, “her church”, and her “church family”. Only health issues kept her away from church later in life.

Christine is survived by her daughter, Judy Coner and her husband David of Franklin, IN; her grandson, Matthew Frye of Franklin, IN; granddaughter-in-law, Chasity Rollins of Whiteland, IN; two great grandchildren, Spencer Rollins and Sophia Rollins; extended family members including nieces and nephews, church family and friends - all who are deeply saddened by her passing and will truly miss her.

In addition to her parents, Ben and Nancy Roy; Christine was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Frye; her son, Danny Frye and his wife Carrie; two daughters, Penny Owens and Sandra Rollins, both of Somerset; her grandson, Kenny Rollins. Being 100 years old, Chritine was also preceded in death by her siblings….. her brothers, Otha and Beatrice Roy, her twin brother, Eugene and Ruth Roy, and Oval and Pat Roy; her sisters, Linda and Hobert Frye, and Alma and Ralph McClendon; and three nephews, Jackie Roy, Charles Frye and Gary McClendon.

The family of Christine would like to express their special thanks and deep appreciation to her caregiver, Rachel Phelps, who became a bright light in her life and a dear friend to Christine… “Thank You”!

Also, many thanks to Lifeline Home Health Staff and Nurses, Ashley, Jessica, and Carly… “Thank you”!

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 21, 2026 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Hwy 80, Somerset, KY 42503. Her funeral service will follow on Monday, September 21st at 1:00 pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home officiated by Bro. Daniel Harper, Pastor of New Hope Baptist Church, whereby, being Christine’s Pastor, she loved him at their first meeting, through a Sister-in-Christ, and grew to gain a “special friendship” with Bro. Daniel in Christ and as her pastor.

Burial will be with her husband at Mill Springs National Cemetery.
