Clara Elizabeth Cahill's Obituary
Clara Elizabeth (Schuyler) Cahill, age 100, of Franklin, IN., passed away Friday, March 4, 2022, at Otterbein Franklin Senior Life Community. She was born February 2, 1922 in North Judson, IN., to Earl and Clara Elizabeth (Neupert) Schuyler. She married James E. Cahill on March 21, 1943, in North Judson, IN. He preceded her in death on January 18, 2005.
She had been a secretary for Allstate Insurance in Indianapolis, IN., for many years. Among her interests were jewelry making, and kayaking at her cottage on Sweetwater Lake in Brown County. She learned to kayak on the ocean, in Alaska, at the age of 83! She was a long time member of Old Bethel Methodist Church in Indianapolis, before moving to Columbus, Indiana. When at her cottage at Sweetwater, she attended the Lake of the Woods church.
Survivors include her son, James E. Cahill II (Linda Rendleman) of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, her daughter Debrah Cahill Carlson, of Nineveh, IN., her sister Kareen Nielsen of North Judson, IN, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great, great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James E. Cahill, her daughter, Sharon Cahill Leavitt, her brothers' Stuart Schuyler, Lloyd Schuyler, Paul Schuyler and her sister, Arlowa Vorm.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at 1:30 PM in the Wright Chapel at Otterbein Franklin Senior Life Community, 1070 West Jefferson Street, Franklin, IN. The family will receive friends from 1PM and continue after the service until 3PM.
Inurnment will take place August 11, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. at Highland Cemetery in North Judson, IN.
Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN is handling the arrangements.
