Clarence Merriman Jr., 82, of Whiteland, IN passed away Sunday, December 31, 2023 at Life's Journey of Avon.
He was born August 31, 1941 in Brown County, IN to Clarence Merriman Sr. and Hallie Josephine (Fleener) Merriman. He married Mary E. (Kenipe) Merriman on October 9, 1971 in Whiteland, IN, she survives.
Clarence was a graduate of Helmsburg High School in Brown County, IN and a United States Army Veteran.
He retired as a supervisor for National Starch and Chemical in Indianapolis, IN in 1996 after 35 years of service.
Clarence enjoyed attending the Indianapolis 500, woodworking, fishing, camping and traveling to Branson, MO.
He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Mary E. (Kenipe) Merriman of Whiteland, IN, two sons Mark A. Merriman (Angela) of Franklin, IN and Michael A. Merriman (Elizabeth Sims) of Indianapolis, IN, three grandchildren Nicholas Merriman, Macy Merriman and Joshua Merriman all of Whiteland, IN, a sister Marie Fishel (Stanley) of Unionville, IN and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son Chad Merriman, brothers Wayne Merriman, Franklin Merriman, George Merriman and James Merriman, sisters Dora Merriman, Esther Teague, Louise Van Dover and Rose Beauchamp.
Pastor Shan Rutherford will conduct a service on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 10:30AM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com. Friends may call Thursday, January 4, 2024 from 5PM until 8PM at the mortuary. Burial will follow the service at Greenwood Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the United States Army Honor Guard and the Greenwood–Whiteland Honor Guard.
