Daniel "Dan" Dean Deeken, 69, of Franklin, IN and formerly of Danville, IL and Charleston, IL passed away Thursday, April 3, 2025.
He was born October 12, 1955 in Danville, IL to Robert George Deeken and Opal Irene (Carl) Deeken. Dan married Carol A. (Shurr) Deeken on September 3, 1976 in Danville, IL, she survives.
He was a 1974 graduate of Danville High School in Danville, IL, a 1976 graduate of Danville Area Community College and received his Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering in 1978 at Indiana State University in Terre Haute, IN.
Dan retired in 2019 from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL as a health and safety officer. He previously had worked for Vesuvius Manufacturing in Charleston, IL and Chuckles Candy Company in Danville, IL.
He was a member of Greenwood Christian Church in Greenwood, IN where he was active in small group. Dan was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed 1970's rock and roll music. He and his son Craig enjoyed racing go-carts and was an accomplished roller skater.
Survivors include his wife Carol A. (Shurr) Deeken of Franklin, IN, his son Craig A. Deeken and daughter-in-law Jaime Deeken of Franklin, IN, three grandchildren Xavier Britt, Skylar Sutton and Zeppelin Michael Deeken, a brother Michael Deeken of Danville, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Robert Ray Deeken.
Pastor Matt Giebler will conduct a service on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at 2PM at Greenwood Christian Church, 2045 Averitt Road in Greenwood, IN 46143 with visitation from 12:30 PM until service time at the church. Burial will follow the service at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, IN.
