David Nelson Long, 63, of Franklin, IN, the son of Verlin & Sarah (Dickerson) Long passed away on March 9, 2023 at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis, IN. David was born in Franklin, IN at Johnson County Hospital on September 13, 1959. He was a Whiteland High School graduate of 1979. He worked as a truck driver for years and his last trucking job was at Lawyer Trucking in Mooresville, IN.

He married his loving wife Katy on May 23, 1980, in Franklin, IN.

He is survived by his loving wife Katy (Buck) Long of Franklin, IN, his children; Shawn Long (Tami) of Franklin, IN and Haley Long Painter (J.T.) of Rushville, IN, grandkids; Cole Long (Heidi) and Ginger Perry (Randy) of Franklin, IN, great-grandkids; Jenna, Clinton and Dakota Perry, Cole David Long Jr., Kinsley Long and a brother Dennis Long of Whiteland, IN.

David loved his family as well as his extended family including his nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

David's hobbies were watching NASCAR races, football, and basketball. He was a big IU basketball fan and loved spending time with family. He always watched wrestling with Katy and loved tinkering in the garage. He loved listening to the radio, drinking coffee, and he loved his dogs.  He also ran many demolition derbies back in the late 90s with his son.

Pastor Walter Fletcher will conduct a celebration of life on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at 2:00PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South Morton Street in Franklin, IN.  Friends may call from 11:00AM until service time at the mortuary.  The service will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com .  Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, IN.
