Delene Fay (Slaughter) Jennings, 76, of Martinsville, IN passed away Sunday, June 1, 2025 at her residence surrounded by her family.

She was born August 22, 1948 in Burkesville, Kentucky to Carl Lee Slaughter and Loretta (Melton) Slaughter.  She married Sammie Charles Jennings on August 21, 1964 in Livingston, TN, he survives.

She was a graduate of Burkesville High School.

Delene had been a medical assistant for I.U. Health in Indianapolis for eighteen years retiring in 2016.  She previously had been an assembler for Western Electric in Indianapolis, IN for fourteen years.

She attended Emmanuel Church of Greenwood at Stones Crossing.

Delene enjoyed shopping and going to the casinos.

Survivors include her husband Sammie Charles Jennings of Martinsville, IN, a son Mark Jennings (Chasity) of Indianapolis, IN, her twin sister Delois Spears (Caryle) of Franklin, IN, two brothers Archie Slaughter (Maria) of Ocala, Florida and Gary Slaughter of Burkesville, Kentucky, five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Carl Slaughter.

Pastor Greg Whitaker will conduct a service on Monday, June 9, 2025 at 1PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/delenejennings.  Friends may call Monday, June 9, 2025 from 10AM until service time at the mortuary.  Burial will follow the service at Greenwood Cemetery.
