It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donna Mullen on July 10, 2024 in Indianapolis, IN.

Donna Kay (Stone) Mullen was born in Corydon, IN on February 21, 1948 to Philip and Clare Stone.  She grew up in Terre Haute, IN and was an outstanding student at Wiley High School.  She attended Indiana Central College and graduated with the first four-year nursing students in 1970.

After meeting and dating at Indiana Central, she married Marlowe Mullen on December 19, 1970 in Terre Haute, IN.

Donna had a keen interest in science and a heart for people.  She worked as a nurse at St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis and at a hospital in Fredrick, MD.  After taking time to raise her three children, Donna returned to serve as a clinic nurse in a family practice on the south side of Indianapolis for 20 years until her retirement.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents Philip and Clare (Jacobs) Stone.  She is survived by her loving husband Marlowe, children Shelly Mullen, Scott (Erin) Mullen and Stacey (Joe) O'Brien, beloved grandchildren Hunter, Jackson, Kaylee, Benjamin, Liam, Ava, Daniel, Rebecca, Brianna and Sienna as well as her brothers Dennis (Mary Sue) Stone and John (Peggy) Stone and many friends, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Donna leaves behind a strong legacy of a faith-filled life.  She was a life-long church member and grew up as an Evangelical United Brethren member where her father was a pastor.  In 1968, she attended the Merge Conference in Dallas, Texas for the joining of the EUB Church and the Methodist Church and thereafter was a United Methodist member.  Over the years, she served as a Children's Choir Director, served on several mission trips to Honduras with Medical Ministry International, and most recently served on the Pastor/Staff committee at Grace United Methodist Church in Franklin, IN.

Her hobbies included genealogy research, knitting, reading and keeping up with new technology trends and gadgets.  Her love for family and joy at being a grandmother might be remembered most.  Her excitement at being a grandmother inspired her to install a car seat in her own car months before her first grandchild was born and she had kept a well-stocked playroom and refrigerator in her home for the fourteen years since to welcome her children and grandchildren at any time.  Spending time with and keeping in touch with her immediate and extended family and friends filled her heart and gave her motivation to persevere through her recent battles.

While we feel sorrow for her loss, we also rejoice in her being healed and renewed in her eternal home in Heaven.  As she quoted often, "The best is yet to come."

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 2PM at Grace United Methodist Church, 1300 East Adams Street in Franklin, IN where a time of visitation and gathering will be from 12:30PM until service time at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 1300 East Adams Street Franklin, IN 46131 or to the Philip and Clare Stone Scholarship Fund at the University of Indianapolis, 1400 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227.
