Donna Jane (Winchester) Schafer, 90, of Greenwood, IN passed away Thursday, May 15, 2025 at Aspen Trace in Greenwood, IN.
She was born September 9, 1934 in Indianapolis, IN to William T. Winchester and Lilian (Redmond) Winchester. She married Donald Buckles Schafer on August 22, 1959 in Indianapolis, IN; he preceded her in death on June 21, 1991.
Donna was a 1952 graduate of Southport High School.
She worked for the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles Greenwood at Walker Plaza for 15 years.
She is a member of Village Bible Church in Greenwood, IN. Donna was a former member of Greenwood Christian Church and the Community Church of Greenwood. She was active with the ladies' Bible studies, Homemakers Club, and was a Delta Deb at Southport High School.
Donna enjoyed crafts, painting, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her son Dave Schafer (Rhonda) of Greenwood, IN, her daughter DeeAnn Heller (Scot) of Greenwood, IN, her grandchildren Breanne DeAvila (Jose), Daniel Schafer, Andrew Schafer (Vashti), Sophie Schafer, Matt Heller (Morgan) and Ben Heller, great-grandchildren Carolina, Joah, Beth and Abby.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sisters Bettilee Harnedy, Billie Mae Poppa and infant Norma Ruth Winchester.
Pastor David Johnson will conduct a service on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at 2:30 PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN. Friends may call Thursday, May 22, 2025 from 12 Noon until service time at the mortuary. Burial will follow the service at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, IN.
