Doris Jeannette (Duncan) Ellsberry, 86, of Nineveh, IN passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2025.
Doris was born September 21, 1938 in Clinton, IN to Lowell Duncan and Lorraine (Harper) Duncan and grew up in Terre Haute, IN.
She graduated from Wiley High School where she excelled as an athlete in softball, track, and as a cheerleader. She moved to Indianapolis, IN and worked for Indiana Bell Telephone Company.
In 1961, she married James Ellsberry also of Terre Haute, IN. She was a stay-at-home mom until their four children were safely on their own. She then worked as an intake recorder at St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis. Following that position she finished working years as a dental assistant. Her first love was for her family.
She was a member of New Beginnings Community Church in Franklin, IN.
Doris is survived by her husband of 63 years James L. Ellsberry of Nineveh, IN, her son Stephen R. Ellsberry of Indianapolis, IN, a daughters Lee Anne Bray of Zionsville, IN and Karen Birch of Indianapolis, IN, a grandson Patrick Bear of Martinsville, IN, granddaughters Taryn Ellsberry of Lebanon, IN, Hadley Bray of Zionsville, IN, a great granddaughter Kinley Ellsberry of Lebanon, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lowell Duncan and Lorraine (Harper) Duncan and her daughter Carol Lynn Thomas on December 23, 2012.
Pastor Bruce Bendinger of New Beginnings Community Church of Franklin, IN will conduct a Celebration of Life Service on Sunday, July 6, 2025 at 1:30 PM at Hilton Garden Inn at 12210 North Executive Drive in Edinburgh, IN. A Celebration of Life gathering will follow for family and friends from 2:30 until 4PM at the Hilton Garden Inn.
Memorial contributions may be made in Doris's memory to New Beginnings Community Church, 600 Ironwood Drive, Suite D, Franklin, IN 46131.
