Douglas Frank Brandenburg, known affectionately to his family and friends as "Faza," passed away on the morning of November 30, 2025, at the age of 79.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, to Louis and Mildred Brandenburg, he was the older brother of Alan Brandenburg.  He graduated from the University of Illinois as an Industrial Engineer and dedicated his professional career to Eli Lilly, where he worked for 43 years.

With a love for all sports, he played football, baseball, hockey, soccer, and was an avid golfer.  He was also a beloved coach of many youth sports teams and loved watching sports on TV, particularly the Bears and Cubs.

Faza never took himself too seriously. He was a man who measured the success of a joke not by the laughter it generated, but by the volume of the groans. He also had a deep love for food, though nothing could quite compare to a banana cream pie, which he found very… a-peel-ing.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy; children, Brian, Eric, Amy, Mark, and nine grandchildren: Blake, Emma, Eli, Ty, Luke, Zack, Madison, Olivia, Kara.

A private memorial service was held for family members.  A public gathering for family and friends will be held on December 21, 2025 from 2:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South Morton Street, Franklin, IN 46131.  In lieu of flowers, please post a favorite memory you have of Doug or make a donation in his name to the Prostate Cancer Foundation www.pcf.org .
