Obituary

Elizabeth (Lavender) McLaughlin, 79, of Greenwood, IN passed away Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis, IN.

She was born on May 21, 1943 in Cooperative, McCreary County, Kentucky to Harold K. and Jewelene (Winchester) Lavender.  She married Robert McLaughlin on March 31, 1962 in Indianapolis, IN.

Liz was a graduate of Harry Wood High School in Indianapolis, IN.

She was the chief comptroller for Myers Ambulance Service in Greenwood, IN for eighteen years & later served in administrative roles at Community Church of Greenwood.

Liz was a member of Southland Community Church in Greenwood and former member of Community Church of Greenwood.  She enjoyed reading, knitting shawls, booties and hats for newborns, and golf club head covers.  She knitted hats and scarfs for the NFL Super Bowl in Indianapolis in 2012, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband of sixty-one years Robert McLaughlin of Greenwood, IN, her daughter Becky Johnson (Judd) of Ft. Wayne, IN, her son Dan McLaughlin (Denise) of Greenwood, IN, grandchildren Ben Johnson (Katie), EJ Johnson (Mariah), David McLaughlin and Danielle McLaughlin, great grandchildren Wylder Johnson and Wren Johnson, a brother Reverend Michael W. Lavender (Melinda) of Columbus, IN and a sister Patricia M. Hoffman (Richard Jr.) of Greenwood, IN.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Dr. Charles Lake will conduct a service on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at 11AM at Southland Community Church, 5800 West Smith Valley Road in Greenwood, IN.  Friends may call Tuesday, March 28, 2023 from 4PM until 7PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and Wednesday at the church from 10AM until service time.  Burial will in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood, IN.
