Elwood F. Neff, 95, of Franklin, IN passed away Sunday, August 27, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born November 4, 1927 in Cedarville Township, Greene County, Ohio to Charles F. Neff and Zella F. (Jones) Neff.

Elwood was a United States Marine Corps Veteran.

He married Velma (Santos) Neff on April 17, 1953 in Washington, DC; she preceded him in death on September 15, 2016.

He had been a professional truck driver for over 25 years having driven for Mayflower and Terminal Transport later known as American Freight.  After retirement, he continued working as a custodian for Webb Elementary School in Franklin, IN for many years.

He was a member of Teamsters Local 135 in Indianapolis, IN.

He enjoyed collecting and building model railroads and was an animal lover.

Survivors include his daughter Kathleen Neff of Indianapolis, IN, a son Steven Paul Neff of Franklin, IN, two grandchildren Dr. Mallery Neff (Curtis Goble) of Indianapolis, IN  and Eric Neff (Caitlin) of Pendleton, IN, two great-grandchildren Cory Neff and Conner Neff.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sisters Pauline Neff Myers, Mildred Neff Russell, Carrie Isabel Neff Palmer and his daughter-in-law Lettie K. (Craft) Neff.

Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN is handling the arrangements.

Services are private.
