Frances Ann (Moyes) Wampler Garrett, 88, of Greenwood, IN passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Wednesday, July 26, 2023. She is now at peace, resting in the arms of her Heavenly Father in whom she placed her trust years ago, and is now enjoying a reunion with her loved ones gone before.

Frances was born on October 25, 1934 in St. Francisville, IL. She was the daughter of the late Fred and Ruby (Wolfe) Moyes. She was the middle of five daughters - Evelyn Henson and Mary Edmondson, who preceded her in death; and Bernadine White and Phyllis Joan Rissman who survive her. An infant brother, James Moyes, also preceded her in death.

Frances married Walter Wampler in March 1952. They remained in love until his death in January 1988. Frances married Tom Garrett in December 1995 and was devoted to his love and care until his death in November 2009.

Frances is survived by her and Walt's four children - Catherine (Rob) Thorne of Long Island, NY, Steve (Michelle Daniels) Wampler of Palm Harbor, FL, David (Becky) Wampler of New Whiteland, IN, and Joyce (Mark) Baker of Greenwood, IN; and by the lights of her life - her and Walt's nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, whom she dearly loved and was enormously proud. Aunt Francie also leaves behind many loving and much loved nieces and nephews, among them Angela Pam (Rick) Parton of Greenwood, IN with whom she shared a most special bond; and Rita Chansler of Lawrenceville, IL, who called her the "glue" of the remaining Moyes family.

In addition to raising four children, Frances worked outside the home at Standard Grocery where she was Assistant Head Cashier (1967 - 1983). She was also formally trained in the now lost art of proper grocery bagging! Although she was retired from the company for 40 years, she remained in regular contact with her beloved "Standard Group" and enjoyed until her passing the close friendships made. She later worked at Morgan Linen (1988 - 1995), and in the Parents Day Out ministry at Emanuel Church (2001 - 2006) where she cared for the infants and formed a lasting friendship with her co-worker, Rose.

In her 88 years of life, Frances cultivated a legacy of love, family, and friendship. She developed relationships with everyone she met, and rarely went anywhere that someone didn't know her. She loved crocheting and shared her passion for this craft by teaching many family members and friends over the years, as well as gifting her made-with-love items to family and friends, and donating to various organizations.

Frances was active in several social groups including Red Hats, Anna's Circle, The Social of Greenwood, and Hope Restored; and she was a faithful member of Gracepoint Church in New Whiteland, IN. Frances lived independently until her passing and embraced modern technology, mastering multiple cable tv remotes, as well as her iPhone and iPad; and she stayed connected with others using Facebook and FaceTime.

Services for Frances will be held at Gracepoint Church, 330 Whiteland Rd, New Whiteland, IN, with visitation on Friday, July 28, from 4:00pm - 8:00pm, and on Saturday, July 29, from 10:30am - 11:30am. The funeral service will follow at 11:30am on Saturday, and will also be livestreamed via this link: https://www.gpindy.net . Frances will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery, 620 W. Main St, Greenwood, IN. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor Frances' memory by taking a friend out for a Starbucks drink and sharing a happy story about her. If you're feeling extra Francie, wear something festive and add some bling like she always did. Frances' legacy is one of family and friendship, and nothing would make her happier than knowing that this is what she is long remembered for.

Lastly, Frances' family would like to thank the healthcare providers and staff at Community South Hospital for their sweet care and relentless fight for her recovery; and the Brighton Hospice team for their responsive and compassionate care of Frances and her family during her final days this side of Heaven. Truly, we saw in these teams the hands and feet of Jesus.
