Francis E. (Smithey) Tinkle, 76 of Ocala, Florida passed away Thursday October 20, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her family.

She was born November 1, 1945 in Franklin, IN to Alfred LeRoy Smithey and Vinnie Rosalie (Doty) Smithey.  She married Paul E. Tinkle on June 29, 1960 in Johnson County, IN; he preceded her in death on July 5, 2014.

She attended Center Grove Schools.

Francis had been the cafeteria manager at Lebanon High School for 35 years.

She loved going on cruises, bingo, traveling, gardening, flowers, feeding and watching the birds, ceramics, playing cards and riding in her golf cart in her community in Ocala, FL.  She was the gold medalist for Bocce Ball at the Senior Olympics at her community in Florida.  Francis continued to be active in the horse community that she and her late husband Paul were active in.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and was dedicated to them all and was the glue that held them all together.

Survivors include her sons Dwayne Tinkle (Sally) of Lebanon, IN, Todd Tinkle (Lisa) of Mooresville, IN and Thomas Tinkle (Marcie) of Rockville, IN, her daughters Marcia Freeman (Jerry) of Lebanon, IN, Angela Klooz (Fritz) of Avon, IN and Denise Crickmore (James) of Greenwood, IN, nineteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, brothers Bill Smithey of Shelbyville, IN, Richard Smithey (Donna) of Naples, FL and Ronald Smithey (Susie) of Franklin, IN and a sister Jeannette Chaffins (Lee) Greenwood, IN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Robert Smithey and sisters Carolyn Purkhiser, Brenda Bunce and Joan Foley.

Larry Hughes will conduct a service on Friday, October 28, 2022 at 5 PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com .  Friends may call Friday October 28, 2022 from 2PM until service time at the mortuary.
