Obituary

Frank B. Harmon, 93, of Franklin, IN and former lifetime resident of Whiteland, IN passed away Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis, IN.

He was born March 31, 1931 at the family farm in Whiteland, IN to Earl Bryant Harmon and Velma Lottie (Hammond) Harmon.  He married Shirley "Jean" (Harrison) Harmon on February 10, 1957 in Indianapolis, IN; she preceded him in death on January 16, 2024.

Frank attended Whiteland schools and was a United States Army Veteran.

He was the owner and operator of Frank Harmon Inc., a contract company with Vectren Gas Company for 40 years.  He previously owned and operated Harmon Oil Company, Harmon Heating and Cooling and worked alongside Paul Hand and Marley Williams all in Whiteland, IN.

Frank was a member of American Legion Post 252 in Greenwood, IN.  Frank loved sports, fishing, golfing, spending time with his family, going to casinos, and spending many years with his late wife Jean at their Florida residence.

He was liked by everyone he met, he was giving man, and always willing to help others.

Frank enjoyed the last two years as a resident of Otterbein Franklin Seniorlife Community and the family wishes to acknowledge their gratitude for the care they provided to Frank and Jean. Frank referred to the staff as angels.

Survivors include his son Phillip Harmon (Lesa) of Whiteland, IN, his daughter Suzanne Rakow (Tracy) of Whiteland, IN, five grandchildren Justin Harmon (Sarah), Brandon Harmon (Taeko), Carley Schwerer (Logan), Amanda Williams (Ryan) and Hannah Rakow, (fiance Brian Rykovich) six great-grandchildren Ryver, Saige, and Cullen Harmon, Addison Havenar, Cambry Schwerer, and Bret Williams, and a sister Lois Fay Hayes of Shelbyville, IN and a brother Richard Lee Harmon (Kalynn) of Edinburgh, IN, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jean Harmon, his brothers Charles Thomas Harmon, and Fred Harmon, his sisters Alice Leona Dragoo, Mary Kathryn Logsdon, Nancy Louise Ledger, Helen Elizabeth Kissee, and Patricia Ann Harmon.

Chaplain Deb Baker will conduct a service on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at 10:30AM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/frankharmon.  Friends may call Friday, November 8, 2024 from 4PM until 8PM at the mortuary and Saturday from 9:30AM until service time.

Burial will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, IN with military honors conducted by the United States Army Honor Guard.
