Franklin "Von" Burchfield, 80, of Greenwood, IN passed away Sunday, October 13, 2024 at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis, IN.

He was born May 15, 1944 in Winfield, TN.  Von had been a coal miner for the Arch Coal Company in Lynch, Kentucky for twenty-one and half years.

He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Indianapolis, IN.  Von was a member and past master of Benham Masonic Lodge 880 F&AM in Benham, Kentucky.

He loved fishing, four wheeling, and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan.

He married Linda G. (Morgan) Burchfield on January 15, 1966 in Winfield, TN, she survives, also surviving is his son Darrin Burchfield (Lisa) of Greenwood, IN, grandchildren Darian Cram (Zach), Jordan Burchfield (Abbie), Tessa Langley (Jake), great-grandchildren Kane Burchfield, Jace Langley, Adrian Cram and Blakely Burchfield, his daughter Veneda Vann (William "Stoney") of Greenwood, IN, grandchildren Jennie Vann, Brandon Robinson (Ronne), Zachary Robinson (Jordan), Jacob Robinson, Danielle Robinson, great-grandchildren Elliott Robinson, Warren Robinson and Elaine Robinson, a brother Carl Burchfield (Mary) of Muncie, IN, sisters Corlon Ellis of Pine Knot, KY, Bandal Ball of Winfield, TN, GiGi Ellis (Gary) of Chattanooga, TN, Klet Hatfield (Billy) of Henderson, KY, Lee Moore of Winfield, TN, sister-in-laws Sue Burchfield of Indianapolis, IN, Goldie Stephens of London, KY, Wanda Stephens of Robbins, TN and Jeanie Stephens of Mooresville, IN and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother Margaret and father Hurstle, 2nd mother Della, brothers Hack Stephens, Deck Stephens, Elmon Stephens, Joe Stephens, Bert Burchfield, and Don Burchfield, sisters Jesse Stephens Wilson, Conde Stephens Bragel and Kat Stephens Gannon.

Franklin Masonic Lodge 107 F&AM will conduct a masonic service on Friday, October 18, 2024 at 1PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN with a memorial service to follow, conducted by Pastor Jamie Murphy of the Grace Baptist Church.  Services will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/franklinvonburchfield.

Friends may call Friday, October 18, 2024 from 11AM until service time at the mortuary.

A private family graveside service will be conducted at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood, IN.
