Obituary

Frederick William Meyer, III was born on September 6, 1947 in Michigan to Frederick William Meyer Jr. and Evelyn Jean Hope Meyer. Frederick (Fred) grew up in a family that was devoted to the health and well-being of companion animals. Fred could often be found working in the family kennel or caring for one of their many farm animals. A lifelong passion for animals that Fred passed on to his children and grandchildren.

Fred graduated from Carmel High School. While attending Carmel, Fred was a member of the football and baseball teams. Fred went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Ball State University. Fred joined the Sigma Chi fraternity while attending Ball State. A brotherhood that Fred shared with his father, both of his brothers and three sons. The fraternity was a lifelong passion for Fred.

It was also at Ball State that Fred reconnected with and married his grade-school friend, Patricia Ann Reel (Ann). Together, they built a life defined by unconditional love and shared many adventures that Fred loved to recount.

Professionally, Fred dedicated many years to the cemetery business, considering it a profound honor to care for families in their time of need.

Fred and Ann were the proud parents of four children; John, Freddy, Julie and Billy. As a father, he was a constant supporter of their sports and activities, particularly within the Center Grove and Carmel communities. Fred firmly believed that youth sports instilled essential values of responsibility, teamwork, and a strong work ethic. He took great pride in raising his children with grit, integrity, compassion, and kindness.

Our family will always cherish memories of family reunion weekends, the Indy 500, Jimmy Buffett concerts, and trips to Disney, Sanibel and Beaver Creek. We will also fondly remember the many meals and gatherings centered around watching Michigan State, the Detroit Lions, and the Detroit Tigers.

Fred is survived by his children, John David Meyer (Beth), Frederick William Meyer IV (April), Julie Ann Meyer Arnold (Brian), and William Daniel Meyer; his grandchildren, Sydney Meyer (Brandon), Morgan Meyer Potter (Josh), Sophia Arnold, and Gregory Arnold; and his siblings, Thomas Meyer (Kristy), James Meyer (Mary Ann), and Nancy Cade (John). He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia Ann Meyer; his parents, Frederick W. Meyer Jr. and Evelyn Jean Meyer; and his father-in-law, John C. Reel.
