Gail Edward Dunn, 78, of Franklin, IN passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at his home.

He was born September 14, 1946 in Mt. Auburn, IL to Carl and Ruth (Dickerson) Dunn.  He married Nedra Kay (Martin) Melton Moore-Dunn on July 3, 2020 in Madison, TN.

Gail was a graduate of Mt. Auburn High School in Mt. Auburn, IL and Lincoln Christian College in Lincoln, IL.

Before going to college, he served in the United States Air Force followed by a time serving as an Illinois State Trooper.  In the 1980's after moving to Hartselle, AL, Gail served for a short time in the ministry and then started and operated Dunn-Rite Construction Company for thirty years.

After moving to Indiana, Gail was asked to serve as an interim Minister for a congregation in Butlerville, IN, which lasted about six months.

Gail and Nedra became member of the Christian Chapel Church in Morgantown, IN where for a brief time, he taught Sunday School.  He also served as one of the leaders of a Bible study group and was active in several of the Church ministries.  He truly loved preaching every three months as a part of the Christian Chapel service held at Homeview Health and Rehabilitation Center in Franklin, IN.

Survivors include his wife Nedra Kay (Martin) Metlon Moore-Dunn of Franklin, IN, his daughter Carlotta (Dunn) Pierson, her husband Timothy and grandson Thaddeus of Speedway, IN, a sister Janet Klay of Taylorsville, IL, a son-in-law Bob Perce of Peoria, IL, Gail's step-children Rhonda and Tom McNernery of Solsberry, IN, David and Krista Melton of Columbus, IN, Kenneth and Mashawn Melton of Franklin, IN, Rachel and Will Worthington of Joplin, MO, Any and Crystal Melton of Madison, TN, Danny and Linda Mullen of Joplin, MO, Shane Gower (Rose's son) of Hartselle, AL, Gail's step-grandchildren Bryan and Beth Perce, Trevin, Kyle, Kadee, Macie and Gracie Melton, Alisa and Joe Camarata, Anna and Chris Bejcek, Carver and Katlyn Melton, McKenna Melton, Brooklyn and Luke Logsdon, Bailey and William Roach, Delaney and Daniel Lahmon, McCabe Melton, Aayden Mullens and Mckaylya Crider.

He is also survived by seventeen precious step-great-grandchildren.

Gail was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Ruth (Dickerson) Dunn and a newborn baby brother, a daughter Debi (Dunn) Perce who passed in 2020 at age 53, and a former spouse Rose Mary Dunn who passed in 2018.

Minister Kevin Whitaker will conduct a "Celebration of Life Service" on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 11AM Christian Chapel Church, 6828 West State Road 44 in Morgantown, IN.  Military Honors will follow the service by the United States Air Force Honor Guard.  The flag will be presented to Gail's grandson Thaddeus Perce.

Inurnment will take place at Roselawn Cemetery in Decatur, Alabama.
