Gayle W. Allard, 79, of Bargersville, IN passed away Saturday, September 23, 2023 peacefully at her home one day before her 80th birthday. She was born September 24, 1943 in Bargersville, IN and was a life-long resident of Johnson County.
She was a 1961 graduate of Union High School in Bargersville and a member of First Christian Church of Bargersville. Gayle was an avid Colts and IU fan, loved her cats, and adored her grandchildren. She and her late husband Mark were active band member parents of the Center Grove High School Marching Band. Public and community service was her passion. Gayle was active in Johnson County Republican politics and served the county residents in many different ways. She was elected as the Johnson County Treasurer and held that position from 1983-1992. Gayle then served on the County Council from 1993-1996. She loved the Town of Bargersville where she served as the Clerk Treasurer from 1996-2007 and the Town Council from 2012-2019. Most recently, Gayle proudly served as a board member and volunteer for KIC-IT and the Johnson County Community Foundation.
She is survived by her loving friend and partner Phil Wilson, sons Andrew Michael Allard (Kimberly) of Bloomington, IN, and David Wesley Ronald Allard (Tammy) of Waterford, PA, six grandchildren Marissa Allard of Cambridge Springs, PA and Jakob Allard of Edinboro, PA, Madeleine Allard and Lydia Allard both of Bloomington, IN, Lyndsay Allard and Gybson Allard both of Waterford, PA, nephew Eric (Pam) Hinkle of Indianapolis, IN, niece Erin (Dave) Records of Greenwood, IN, and three great-nieces Ruth (John) Hinkle of Forest park, IL, Maura Records of Greenwood, IN and Aletha Hinkle of Chicago, IL.
She was preceded in death by her husband Marcel "Mark" Allard, her daughter Mary Elizabeth Allard, her parents Maurice "Wes" Utterback and Mary Utterback, and her sisters Jane Utterback and Martha Hinkle.
Services and viewing will be at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin IN. Friends may call Friday, September 29, 2023 from 4-8PM with service time at 10:00AM Saturday, September 30, 2023 and will be live-steamed at www.swartzmortuary.com. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Johnson County Community Foundation, 398 South Main Street, Franklin, IN 46131 or at www.jccf.org.
