Geneva Lee Cecil Cross, 94, of Bargersville, IN died July 27, 2023 at Aspen Trace Memory Care Facility in Greenwood, IN.  She was a resident of Bargersville are for over 65 years.

She was born January 1, 1929 in Helenwood, Tennessee to Reason H. and Josie (Jestice) Cecil.  A graduate of Huntsville High School in 1945 where she was a star on the girls' basketball team.

Geneva married Jimmie Cross on February 23, 1948; he preceded her in death on November 16, 2000.

She is survived by four sons, Steve Cross (Linda) of Martinsville, IN, Cleve Cross (Melody) of Greencastle, IN, Virgil Cross (Dorothy) of Brownsburg, IN, Brian Cross of Bargersville, IN, a daughter Jeanette Petro (Larry) of Willow Springs, MO, a brother-in-law James Donald Cross of Greenwood, IN, 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

After her children were in school, she worked at G.C. Murphy and Company, Johnson County Memorial Hospital and retired from Wesemann Medical Services in 1986.

She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church while living in Cabool, MO for fifteen years from 1986 until 2001.

Following the death of her husband, she returned to Indiana and became a member of Paragon Bible Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for six years.  Later she returned to First Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Franklin, IN.

Pastor Skip Roten of Centennial Christian Church in Martinsville, IN will officiate a service on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at 10AM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com.  Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 from 6PM until 8PM at the mortuary and Thursday from 9AM until service time at the mortuary.  Burial will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood, IN.
