Gretchen Jett

Gretchen Jett, 58, of Franklin, Indiana, formerly of Brownsburg and Indianapolis, passed away on August 18, 2026, in Franklin. She was born on January 10, 1968, in Indianapolis to Ernie and Lucy Breheim. Gretchen was preceded in death by her father, Ernie. Her mother, Lucy Breheim, survives.

Gretchen married Gregory Jett, her devoted husband, who also survives. She is also survived by her brother, Thad Breheim; brother‑in‑law, Brian Jett; nieces Stephanie Breheim, Rebecca Breheim, and Lauren (Shawn) Radar; nephews Brandon (Rachel) Jett and Tyler Redding; and several great nephews and nieces. Gretchen cherished her family deeply and held each of them close to her heart.

Gretchen and Greg built a life marked by love, partnership, and a strong sense of home. Whether living in Brownsburg, Indianapolis, or Franklin, Gretchen made every place warm, welcoming, and full of connection.

She worked for Peterman Brothers Heating and Cooling for five years and spent fifteen years with Goodyear Tires, where she was known for her dedication, reliability, and the way she treated coworkers like family.

Service and community involvement were central to Gretchen’s life. She loved volunteering at the Johnson County Animal Shelter and the Indianapolis Children’s Museum, sharing her kindness and enthusiasm with everyone she met. A lifelong member of the Girl Scouts, Gretchen embraced the organization’s values wholeheartedly and proudly played French horn in the CAC Scout Band.

Gretchen was the hub of her family—the planner, organizer, and coordinator of every gathering. She made holidays brighter, celebrations more meaningful, and everyday moments feel special. Her love for animals, especially cats, was one of her defining joys, and she cared for them with tenderness and devotion.

Gretchen will be remembered for her generous heart, her commitment to service, her love of family, and the gentle, joyful spirit she carried throughout her life. A service will be conducted on Sunday, September 6, 2026 at 4:00 PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary/obituary/gretchenjett.  Visitation will take place on Sunday, September 6, 2026 from 2:00 PM until service time at the mortuary.  Inurnment will take place at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, IN. at a later date.
