Helen F.
Schultz
November 9, 1929 — September 2, 2023
Franklin
Helen Frances Schultz died Saturday, September 2, 2023 at age 93. She was born Helen Frances Wilson, November 9, 1929, in Chicago, Illinois, to Harrison Diehl Wilson, Jr. and Ethel Marie (Neff) Wilson who preceded her in death.
After Helen graduated from Lima South High School in 1946, she lived in Stuart, Florida, Chicago, Illinois and Lima, Ohio. Helen married Glenn Wallace Schultz June 7, 1958, in Lima and came to Johnson County Indiana where she lived out her life. She was an attentive and loving mother to two children.
Helen was an active member of Whiteland United Methodist Church for over 50 years, a member of Whiteland United Methodist Women and the chancel choir for many years. She spent 15 years in the church office where she worked with 6 different United Methodist ministers. She spent countless hours volunteering for various activities at the church, oftentimes working in the church kitchen. Her pumpkin pies were always some of first to go at church gatherings.
Helen was active in the community, as well. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother when her son was in elementary school and served as a room mother for several years in her children's classes.
She never knew a stranger, very much like her own mother. Helen made a point to seek out and greet newcomers at church and worked with the Welcome Wagon in Whiteland. In her early years, she worked in banking and returned to that for fun after retirement. She also sold Avon, worked at Whiteland Hardware and served meals at the election polls.
Her love of music began at an early age and continued throughout her life. She knew many hymns by heart and it was very common to hear her singing, whistling or humming a tune.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn, a brother Bill Wilson, and sister Carol (Wilson) Schultz.
She is survived by her sister Lois (Wilson) Krysa; son, Steven (Nadia Khan) Schultz; daughter, Su Zan (Andy) Tapscott; grandchildren, Tiffany (Aaron) Weir and Jared (Bridgett) Payton; and great-grandchildren, Win Weir, Alli Weir, Reesa Weir, Cale Weir, Sevi Weir, Kaden Litton and Millie Payton.
"Well done, good and faithful servant!" - Matthew 25:23
