Howard Thomas Beasley

Howard Beasley, 91, of Greenwood, IN passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026.

Howard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose gentle spirit and genuine kindness left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He loved his family deeply and treated others with warmth, patience, and compassion. Even in his final hours, the nurses caring for him remarked on his kindness, a reflection of the way he lived his entire life.

Born on October 2, 1934, to Howard L. and Mary Beasley, Howard grew up in Indianapolis and graduated from Broad Ripple High School. As a teenager, he worked as a "soda jerk" at a neighborhood drugstore, where he first discovered his interest in pharmacy. Before pursuing that career, he proudly served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps in Verona, Italy. Upon returning home, he attended the College of Pharmacy at Butler University, where he met the love of his life, Phyllis Bohanan. They shared a 61 year marriage.

Howard joined Hook’s Drugs as a pharmacist in 1961,retired as District Manager in 1995, but continued working part-time for several years. Throughout his career and retirement, he remained committed to serving others. He was active with the Hook Drug Foundation and volunteered at the Gennesaret Free Clinic. A lifelong learner and avid reader, Howard read the Bible cover to cover during retirement and was most recently a member of Mount Pleasant Christian Church.

Howard and Phyllis shared 61 years of love and devotion. Together, they raised two sons, Mark Beasley (Cathy), who preceded him in death, and David Beasley (Meg). He was a proud grandfather to Mitchell (Amanda), Colleen, Beth (Tyler), and Drew, and a beloved great-grandfather to Memphis, Azalea, and Mirabella.

His family will forever cherish memories of game nights, family gatherings, trips to Florida, and the easy laughter and good-natured humor that were hallmarks of his presence.

Howard's happy place was his screened-in porch, where he could often be found with a good book in hand. He never met a mystery novel he didn't enjoy, and was well known for his sweet tooth, often-sneaking cookies and candy to his grandchildren.

More than anything, Howard will be remembered for the quiet way he made people feel seen, valued, and loved. His kindness was effortless, his presence comforting, and his example enduring. He leaves behind a family who adored him and countless others whose lives were made brighter simply by knowing him.

A private family graveside service will be conducted at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood, IN.
