Ida Easter (Owens) Minton, 88, of Franklin, IN passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at Homeview Health and Rehabilitation Center in Franklin, IN.
She was born March 28, 1937 in Somerset, Kentucky to Killus Wade Owens and Maude Ethel (Floyd) Owens. Ida married Alva Foster Minton on April 24, 1955 in Franklin, IN; he preceded her in death on February 18, 2002.
Ida had been a cook and culinary baker at Johnson Memorial Hospital for 29 years, retiring in 1991.
She was a member of Turning Point Church in Franklin, IN (formerly Franklin Church of Christ). Ida enjoyed gardening, flowers and especially helping others.
Survivors include her daughter Tammy Joe Phelps (Gary) of Franklin, IN, two grandchildren Amanda Murray (Chris) of Indianapolis, IN and Donald Phelps of Detroit, MI, four great-grandchildren Ayla Lofthouse, Jackie Murray and Audra Murray, and Mia Phelps, and a sister Lois Brantley of Indianapolis, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings Gloyd Owens, Lula Brown, Nellie Van Meter, Lowell Owens, Pete Owens, Martha Anderson, Mary Elene Hayes, and James Owens.
Pastor Greg Fox will conduct a service on Monday, February 9, 2026 at 10AM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com./obituary/idaminton. Friends may call Sunday, February 8, 2026 from 2PM until 5PM at the mortuary.
Burial will follow the service at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, IN.
