Obituary

Jack Roscoe Stephens, 87, of Bargersville, IN passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family at his home on Wednesday, October 4, 2023.  He was born September 5, 1936, in Sand Springs, Kentucky to Harve L. and Rosa (Robbins) Stephens.

Jack married Joan M. (Riddell) Stephens on July 2, 1955, in Franklin, IN.  She survives.

He worked as a heavy diesel mechanic for Irving Materials Inc. "IMI" Waverly plant for many years, retiring in 2001.

Jack enjoyed fishing and spending time with family.  He also enjoyed working on cars, basketball, woodworking, building bird and butterfly houses, coon hunting, and playing computer and video games.  He was a 25-year member of the Poor Boy Bass Club in Franklin.

Survivors include his wife Joan M. (Riddell) Stephens of Bargersville, IN, daughters Ronda Richardson of Trafalgar, IN, Lona Huffman of Mooresville, IN and Angela Stephens of Greenwood, IN.  He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren as well as siblings Josie Rund of Shelbyville, IN, Bruce (Sheila) Stephens of Spencer, IN, Thomas (Kaye) Stephens of Franklin, IN, Frank Stephens of Peoga, IN, Jim (Francie) Stephens of Franklin, IN, and Juanita (Phil) Morris of Madison, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harve L. and Rosa (Robbins) Stephens, a son Danny Stephens, a daughter Pamela Stephens, and a brother Bill (Carol) Stephens.

Pastor Joshua Stephens will conduct a service on Saturday October 14, 2023, at 11AM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com.  Friends may call Friday October 13, 2023 from 4PM until 8PM and Saturday from 10AM until service time at the mortuary.  Burial will be at First Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Franklin, IN.
