James H. "Jim" Williams, 85, of Franklin, IN passed away on Monday, June 16, 2025 at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis, IN.

He was born January 24, 1940 in Shelby County, Indiana to Fred H. Williams and Eleanor Louise (Ferguson) Williams.  Jim married Jearline "Jerri" (Buster) Williams on May 20, 1961 at Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Franklin, IN, she survives.

He was a 1958 graduate of Franklin High School.

Jim was a lifelong farmer in Johnson and Shelby Counties and former Dekalb seed salesman.  He was a 50 plus years member of the Indiana Farm Bureau Inc, past president of the Johnson County Farm Bureau Inc, a member of the Johnson County Fair Association, having previously served as a member of the Johnson County Fair Board, member of the Indiana Soybean Association and various organizations related to the agriculture industry.

In 1993, he and his family were awarded the Johnson County Farm Family of the year.

Jim was passionate about local government affairs.

He enjoyed collecting farm toys and promoting his community and agriculture at various parades and events with floats and educational displays.

Survivors include his wife Jearline "Jerri" (Buster) Williams of Franklin, his children Fred Williams (Belinda) of Franklin, IN, David Williams (Julie) of Franklin, IN, Karen Jones (Randy) of Franklin, IN and Steve Williams (Susan) of Franklin, IN, grandchildren Scott Williams (Holly) of Pendleton, IN, Zach Hart (Megan) of Franklin, IN, Sarah Williams (Justin Waldrip) of Greenfield, IN, Adam Jordan (Emilee) of Franklin, IN, Becca Wagoner (Steven) of Phoenix, AZ, Bryan Williams of Indianapolis, IN, Ethan Whitaker (Yarley) of Carmel, IN, Parker Williams M.D. of Indianapolis, IN, Matthew Jordan of Bargersville, IN, great grandchildren Miley Williams, Stetson Williams, Madeline Jordan, Wade Wagoner, Sterling Hart and Mason Jordan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and great-granddaughter Meredith Alaine Jordan.

Pastor Mike Crockett will conduct a service on Monday, June 23, 2025 at 10AM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/jameswilliams.  Friends may call Sunday, June 22, 2025 from 2PM until 6PM at the mortuary.  Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, IN.
