James Edward Powers, 86, of Franklin, IN and formerly of Harrison, OH passed away Sunday, January 5, 2025 at Homeview Health and Rehabilitation Center in Franklin, IN.

He was born October 12, 1938 in Cincinnati, OH to Walter "Sam" Powers and Frances "Dixie" (Brunson) Powers.

Throughout his life, James was known for his passion for horse racing and the love of sports.  He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives he touched.

Survivors include his children Kim Stanek, Denver, NC, James Powers, Erlanger, KY and Cristine Tinkle (Charles III) of Nineveh, IN, his grandchildren Jeffrey Stanek, Charles Tinkle IV, and Mallory Henselmeier (Dylan) and newly welcomed great-grandchild Tucker Henselmeier, a brother Walter "Coke" Powers (Ginny), of Harrison, OH, sisters Karen Morrow, Venice, FL and Marlene Werner, Burlington, KY and many nieces and nephews.

His parents and son Jeffrey Powers preceded him in death.

A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 10AM. at St. John the Baptist Church, 10010 Carolina Trace Road, Harrison, OH.  Interment will take place at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Harrison, OH.
