Janice Elaine (Tary) Sutton, age 83, passed away April 14th, 2024 at her residence in Franklin, IN. She had previously been a resident of Brownsburg and Indianapolis, IN, as well as Viola, IL.
Funeral services are on Saturday, April 20th, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola IL. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Viola Cemetery.
Jan was born October 21st, 1940 to Leo Raymond and Ada "Arlene" (Holdsworth) Tary in Rock Island, IL. She married Clair Eugene Sutton on July 29th, 1960 in Viola; they remained married until his death on December 21st, 2004.
Jan graduated from Winola High School in Viola and the Electronic Radio-Television Institute in Omaha, NE. She worked several jobs, eventually retiring in 2007 as an administrative assistant with the Brownsburg Fire Territory. She loved her job and her firefighters. Jan was an amazing wife and mother, taking care of her family was always the most important thing to her. She adored spending time with friends, family, and neighbors; Jan was always at her most joyful when she was in the company of those she loved.
Jan is survived by her sons, Paul (Imelda) Sutton and Noel (Erin) Sutton; grandchildren, Stephen Stafford, Katie (Sam) Dixon, Shannon Sutton, Emma Sutton, and Desmond Sutton; great-grandchildren Alyss Stafford and George Dixon; siblings Connie Hays and Steve (Marcia) Tary; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and infant children, Todd Eugene, Jenny Elaine, and Kerry Ann. The family would like to give their thanks to the staffs at Morning Pointe and Otterbein, they provided a safe and happy home for Jan in her last years.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be sent to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.
