Jerry J. Memmer

Jerry J. Memmer, 82, of Franklin, IN passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at Otterbein Franklin Seniorlife Community.

He was born October 14, 1943 in Indianapolis, IN to James Albert “Jim” Memmer and Bonnie Jean (Combs) Memmer. Jerry married Marilyn Ruth (Schnell) Memmer, she preceded him in death on March 17, 2026.

He was a graduate of Washington High School in Washington, Illinois.

Jerry retired as a machinist for Allison Transmission in Indianapolis after 30 years of service.

He was a member of Hurricane Community Church in Franklin, IN. Jerry was also a member the American Flyer Train Group of Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. He enjoyed his Lionel model trains, watching rodeos, cars and history.

Survivors include his sons Tony Mark Memmer of Lebanon, IN and Timothy W. Memmer of Franklin, IN, a brother Johnnie Memmer of Rockville, IN and a sister Patti Redman of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Pastor Dan McLaughlin will conduct a celebration of life service Thursday, July16, 2026 at 12 Noon at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/jerrymemmer.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 16, 2026 from 10AM until service time at the mortuary.

Inurnment will follow the service at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, IN.
