Jerry Wayne "JP" Phillips, 67, of Needham, IN passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2024.  He was born May 1, 1957 in Franklin, Kentucky to Kenneth Phillips and Eunice (Smith) Phillips Kight.  He married Rebecca J. (Pyle) Phillips on July 4, 1980 in Indianapolis, IN, she survives.

JP attended Franklin Central High School in Indianapolis, IN.

He had been a concrete finisher for Bern's Construction in Indianapolis for 18 years.  He previously had worked in the Tri County Asphalt and Smith Projects for many years.

JP was a member of Labors Union 120 in Indianapolis.  He enjoyed fishing at Lake Monroe and Yellowwood State Forest, hunting and riding Harley Davidson motorcycles.  JP also was loyal to his General Motors, Chevrolet automobiles, 80's and 90's rock n' roll and country music.  He especially enjoyed raising chickens, hogs, goats and gardening.  JP was a hardworking man and was a giving man donating his ponytail to Locks of Love charity for those going thru health situations for hair replacement.

Survivors include his wife Rebecca J. (Pyle) Phillips of Needham, IN, his children Dawn M. Phillips of Greenwood, IN, Kristina D. Phillips of Needham, IN and Jesse L. Phillips of Greenwood, IN, his five grandchildren EJ Phillips, Lucinda Johnson, Simone Johnson, Deric Johnson, and NovaLynn Marie Phillips, his mother Eunice (Smith) Phillips Kight of Acton, IN, his sister Linda Phillips of Crawfordsville, IN, his brother Randell Phillips (Kathy) of Indianapolis, IN, his mother-in-law Sharon Bailey of Grand Rapids, MI, two nieces Lyndzie Phillips of New York and Kelszie Morgan (Evan) of Crawfordsville, IN, a great niece Sloane Morgan, brother-in-laws Tim Pyle of Franklin, IN, Dan Pyle (Lanna) of Petersburg, IN and Steve Pyle of Franklin, IN, a sister-in-law Carol Hicks (Larry) of Nineveh, IN.

He was preceded in death by his father Kenneth Phillips, father-in-law George Pyle and daughter-in-law Angel Mead.

Pastor Shan Rutherford will conduct a service on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at 3PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/jerryphillips.  Friends may call Tuesday, November 12, 2024 from 12 Noon until service time at the mortuary.
