Obituary

Joan (Vandivier) Scholl, 87, of Indianapolis, IN passed away Thursday, February 2, 2023 surrounded by her loving family by her side.  Joan's family thanks the countless family and friends for the incredible outpouring of support and love the last few months.

Joan was born October 13, 1935 to Everett and Mildred (Willey) Vandivier in Franklin, IN.  Joan grew up one of eight children.

She spent many years working at Ross Gage and B.B. Kirkbride Bible Company in Indianapolis, IN.  Joan loved Elvis, Hank Williams Sr. and old Western shows.  She always looked forward to watching football and NASCAR on Sunday with her family.

Joan met Dora Scholl from Russell Springs, Kentucky.  They were married on June 24, 1954 in Franklin, IN and had seven wonderful children.

She is survived and forever lovingly remembered by her children Dora Scholl of Indianapolis, IN, Glenda Snow (Ed) of Russell County, KY, Rita Anderson (Tony Parksey) of Indianapolis, IN, Jeff Scholl of Indianapolis, IN, Steve Scholl of Plainfield, IN, Dena Shearer (Don) of Greenwood, IN, her grandchildren Tara Napier, TJ Napier, Jason Capps, Chad Capps, JR Anderson, Shannon Gibson, Kandy Lyons, Jessica Scholl, Steven Scholl, Taylor Scholl, Peyton Scholl, Timothy Anderson, Arron Anderson-Sorrells, sixteen great-grandchildren, her sisters Dorothy Bolin of Franklin, IN and Pansy Stevens (Bob) of Shelbyville, IN and many other family members and friends.

Joan was preceded in death  by her parents Everett and Mildred (Willey) Vandivier, her husband Dora Scholl, sisters Pauline Spay and Geraldine Bundy, brothers Earl Vandivier, Harold Vandivier Sr., Larry Vandivier, daughter-in-law Julie Scholl, grandson Jeffrey Jordan Scholl, daughter Bobby Lyons and grandson AJ Lyons.

Please join us in celebrating Joan's wonderful life.  Pastor Roosevelt Owen will conduct a service on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 2:30PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com.  The family will receive friends with a visitation on Friday, February 10, 2023 from 4PM until 8PM at the mortuary and Saturday from 1PM until service time.  Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, IN.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 50 East 91 st Street, Indianapolis, IN 46240 or at www.alz.org .
