Joan J. (Kriz) Toombs, 80, of Mooresville, IN passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2026 at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis, IN.

She was born on September 13, 1945 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Lawrence Kriz and Dorothy (Igowski) Kriz.  She married David J. "Dave" Toombs on May 22, 1965 in Milwaukee, WI; he preceded her in death on September 23, 2016.

Joan was a 1963 graduate of South Division High School in Milwaukee, WI.

She was a songwriter and a member of Mt. Pleasant Christian Church in Greenwood, IN.  Joan and her husband were active in the Food Bank ministry at the church.

Survivors in her two daughters Tammy Ann Medley (Keith) of Whitehouse, TN and Lora Totten (Brian) of Cincinnati, Ohio, six grandchildren Noah Buettgen (Danielle), Jessica Glatting (Travis), Nicholas Buettgen, Abigail Medley, Annie Medley and Jake Medley, three great-grandchildren Oliva Buettgen, Delaney Buettgen and Elle Buettgen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sisters Barbara Hrdlicka and Margaret "Margie" Kriz.

Pastor Matt Pineda will conduct a memorial service on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at 1PM at Mt. Pleasant Christian Church, 381 North Bluff Road, Greenwood, IN.  Inurnment will take place at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood, IN.
